Flue Gas Scrubbing
Fast-track execution of engineering modules and equipment fabrication
KT – Kinetics Technology has been selected for the of the sulphur recovery plant serving the sour gas processing facilities of one of the major gas fields discovered in the Mediterranean Sea. The project has defined a new bench mark for the market: delivery of skid mounted plant at site within 9 months from the contract award. Reduction of project execution was possible by an early engineering phase, early module design and an early procurement phase integrated with increased standardization of design, increased co-ordination between all the disciplines involved in the project, with a start-up of the procurement supply chain at a very early stage of the project. In this way a new strategy of overlapping the licensing and engineering phase has been adopted.
The process scheme selected for the sulphur plant includes four SRU packages, each with a capacity of about 30 t/d of sulphur. Despite the small capacity, major technological solutions were needed to meet the demanding performance required, due to the “difficult to treat” feedstock with important content of impurities like hydrocarbons and BTX with a potential wide range of fluctuations of the feedstock and impurities during plant operation.
KT has developed an advanced process scheme based on:
- KT RAR™ Multipurpose process for acid gas enrichment and Tail Gas Treatment;
- KT Modified Claus Process for Sulphur Recovery section
- KT liquid sulphur degassing technology for liquid sulphur degassing
Zohr is the largest gas discovery ever made in Egypt and in the Mediterranean Sea and will be able to satisfy a part of Egypt’s natural gas demand for decades to come. Eni has produced its first gas from the supergiant Zohr field in a record time for this type of field, less than two and a half years from the discovery. The field is now producing 2 bcfd, equivalent to approximately 365,000 boed.
